World Rowing Coastal Championships Cancelled.
The Croatian Rowing Federation and the City of Rijeka have withdrawn as organisers of the 2012 World Rowing Coastal Championships for Clubs. The event was scheduled to have taken place in Rijeka, Croatia from 19 – 21 October 2012. As the time is very short to find a new organiser, the FISA Council has cancelled the Coastal Championships for this year.
Following the withdrawal of Spain from hosting the 2011 Championships, the Italian Rowing Federation agreed to host the Championships a year earlier in Bari after having been awarded the Championships for 2012. This left a gap in 2012. The City of Rijeka and the Croatian Rowing Federation bid and accepted to organise the event, but now are forced to withdraw for financial reasons.
FISA look forward to a successful 2013 World Rowing Coastal Championships in Helsingborg, Sweden. This event will take place earlier in the year than usual, from 16th – 18th August 2013 so please place these new dates in your calendars.
For those Coastal rowers looking to race internationally this summer there are three exciting major events that are welcoming international crews to race :
2012 Öresund Coastal Rowing Race 28th July 2012
Helsingborg Rowing Club invites coastal rowers from around the world to enter the 2012 Öresund Coastal Rowing Race which will serve as the test event and will take place on the 28th July 2012. Please visit their site at:

2012 Criterium OPEN long distance (16km) Race 7th October, Lorient, Brittany, France
This open long distance race is held on the spare day after the French National Coastal Championships (Championships de France d'Aviron de Mer). For more information go to:

Italian Coastal Championships
The Italian Coastal Rowing Championships will take place from 1-2 September in San Benedetto del Tronto. More information will be posted here as soon as it is available.
